| Breaking News | | Friday, August 10th, 2007: Macias 5-5 for Missionaries Drew Macias exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Missionaries Ballpark. The Albion first baseman had a field day in the 5-3 triumph over the Tatamy Poltergeists, finishing up with a 5-5 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."
Well, Macias must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
D. Macias singled in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
To date this year Macias is batting .251 with no home runs. | | Monday, July 9th, 2007: SL1 Names Poltergeists Catcher Winner No single hit brought Ryan Hanigan Player of the Week honors -- the Tatamy Poltergeists catcher corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat.
"Hitting is all about discipline," said Hanigan. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too agressively...swinging at a lot of bad pitches...that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes."
Concentrate he did. Hanigan stroked 13 hits in 22 at-bats while cranking out 1 home run, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
A look at his 2007 stats shows Hanigan with a .435 average, 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has played in 16 games. | | | Pitching Staff | | Role | Throws | Pitcher | W | L | SV | ERA | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 37-25, .597 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 4.0 GB | | Record at home | 20-11, .645 PCT | | Record on the road | 17-14, .548 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 1-1, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 7-5, .583 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 10-10, .500 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 27-15, .643 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in June | 7-5, .583 PCT | | Record in July | 17-11, .607 PCT | | Record in August | 13-9, .591 PCT |
