| Breaking News |  | Monday, August 20th, 2007: Bridgeport Challenge Take Championship Series
The 2007 MLB Short Season A season came to a close today at Challenge Stadium, where the Bridgeport Challenge whipped the Glendale Betas 12-3 and won their 1st Championship Series in history.
Bridgeport got there by compiling a 35-19 mark during regular season play and claiming the first spot in the Sub League 1 standings.
The Challenge won the series 3-1 in games. |
| Monday, July 30th, 2007: Week's #1 Player Honored by SL2
Glendale's Jim Chamblee would not be denied the Sub League 2 Player of the Week Award for this past week. His consistent stroke, which produced 12 hits in 28 at-bats and a .429 average, made him the clear favorite to win the honor.
"You just go out there and do what you have to do," said Chamblee, "When I'm up, I try to focus and block everything else out of my mind...and have a good at-bat. I'm up there to get a hit or advance a runner, not to get caught up in the emotion of the moment. I hope I can win this award every week."
He also tallied no home runs, 2 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
So far this season Chamblee is hitting .318 with 4 home runs. |
