After the first three hits, all eyes in the ballpark were drawn to him each time he stepped into the batter's box. Even a few of the opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little baseball-hitting history unfold.
In the clubhouse, crowded by reporters, the Bridgeport left fielder said, "I never realized that batting a little ball around could cause so much commotion." When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and replied, "The key to hitting for a high average is to relax, concentrate and hit the ball where they ain't."
Nobody was at home today as Riggs finished the day with 6 hits in 6 at-bats and a line in the record book.
A. Riggs singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book.
In the Heinsohns 13-11 win over Catskill, T.J. Bohn was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Heinsohns Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day Bohn delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.
T. Bohn hit a two-run single in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, hit a two-run single in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 9th.
Bohn is hitting at a .500 mark this season. His stats show 2 home runs, 19 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has played 13 games for the Heinsohns. | | | Pitching Staff | | Role | Throws | Pitcher | W | L | SV | ERA | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 30-24, .556 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 5.0 GB | | Record at home | 16-11, .593 PCT | | Record on the road | 14-13, .519 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-1, .667 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 7-3, .700 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 5-2, .714 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 25-22, .532 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 8-2, .800 PCT | | Record in June | 8-4, .667 PCT | | Record in July | 12-17, .414 PCT | | Record in August | 10-3, .769 PCT |
