| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, September 5th, 2007: Michel Hernandez Chosen SL2's Best Hitter
Michel Hernandez of Washington was the King of Swing in 2007, winning the Outstanding Hitter Award in the Sub League 2.
This season he abused, bruised and used the SL2 pitchers for a .364 average. Hernandez logged 158 hits in 434 at-bats, 23 doubles, 1 triple, 8 home runs, 70 RBIs and scored 64 times.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |
| Monday, July 30th, 2007: Hernandez on the Attack, Player of the Week
28-year-old catcher Michel Hernandez of the Washington Hopes is the talk of the Sub League 2 for putting on a torrid hitting display last week and claiming the Player of the Week Award.
Hernandez rapped out a sensational .571 batting average with 12 hits in 21 at-bats, 1 home run and 7 RBIs.
Presently Hernandez is batting .382 with 145 hits and 8 home runs. He has knocked in 62 runs and scored 61 times. |
| Monday, July 2nd, 2007: Player of the Week: Cannizaro of the Hopes
Speak softly and carry a big stick and you could win the Sub League 2 Player of the Week Award just like Andy Cannizaro.
He really dazzled on the diamond this week with a .500 average to take home the trophy. The Washington shortstop went 15-30, drove in 6 runs, scored 2 times, and hit no home runs.
Hitting .332 to date, Cannizaro has 2 home runs and 29 RBIs. He has played in 71 games. |
