Like a battering ram, Scott Seabol hit the baseball with brutal efficiency last week, gaining himself the Sub League 2 Player of the Week title for that stretch.
The Amityville Golden Bears first baseman rapped out a .444 average with 12 hits in 27 at-bats, 2 home runs, 3 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
Seabol is hitting .288 this season with 14 home runs, 71 RBIs and 82 runs scored. He has 134 hits in 465 at-bats. |
 | Sunday, August 12th, 2007: Akron Holds Golden Bears Scoreless
In an almost effortless performance, Jon Leicester of the Blackbears shot down the Golden Bears 5-0 on a 4-hit shutout.
His skipper said, "Jon was just locating so well and using his pitches...not leaving anything over the plate."
Leicester recorded 3 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
In the postgame press conference, the Amityville manager said, "When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game like he can and we couldn't get a key hit off him."
In 2007 Leicester has a 4-12 record with a 3.77 ERA. |
| Monday, August 6th, 2007: Sub League 2 Names Top Player
Over the past week, Jaime Bubela has feasted on Sub League 2 pitching. Today the Amityville Golden Bears right fielder gobbled up the league's latest Player of the Week Award.
Bubela swung the bat with purpose all week as he collected a .364 average, 8 hits in 22 at-bats, 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
This year Bubela is hitting .236 with 65 hits, 5 home runs, 43 RBIs and has scored 39 runs. |
