| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, September 4th, 2007: Young Named SL2 Outstanding Pitcher Award Winner In 2007, the premier pitcher in the Sub League 2 was a reliever. It does happen, but not often. Norfolk's fine bullpen ace, Tim Young, stood out some much that he was voted the Outstanding Pitcher Award by the Sub League 2.
Overall in the season he notched 40 relief appearances and 25 saves. In the won-lost department the 33-year-old reliever went 5-2 with a 2.08 ERA. Young also had 6 strikeouts in 43.1 innings.
He will receive his best pitcher award this weekend at the annual SBWA meeting. |  | Tuesday, July 31st, 2007: Jerry Hairston Not Happy in Norfolk? It appears to be only a rumor, but earlier today, fans around Norfolk were buzzing with the news that their 31-year old second baseman Jerry Hairston had been asking for a trade. "I couldn't imagine him saying bad things about Norfolk or wanting to leave." said one person. |  | Sunday, July 1st, 2007: Young Selected SL2's Best Pitcher In June, the top-rated pitcher in the Sub League 2 was a reliever. It's not a common occurence, but it does happen occasionally. The Norfolk Gulls fine hurler, Tim Young stood out so much that he was picked the best Pitcher of the Month by the Sub League 2.
The Gulls bullpen ace was brilliant with 9 saves in 11 relief appearances, a 1-0 won-lost mark and 1.46 ERA. He worked 12.1 innings, allowed 14 hits, struck out 2 and walked 1.
To date this season, Young has fashioned a 1.42 ERA and rung up 16 saves for his club. He has 3 strikeouts and 6 walks.
