This year Perez has batted at a .375 pace with 104 hits, 11 home runs, 52 RBIs and scored 50 times. | | Saturday, June 30th, 2007: Great Day for Perez! 5 Hits! Miguel Perez really did a number on the Jazz in the Scottsdale 9-4 victory. Not just anyone can get 5 hits in 5 at-bats. But Miguel Perez did just that today for the Vampires and gave his batting average a healthy boost and sparked his club in the win.
"I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 23-year-old catcher said after his record-setting performance.
M. Perez hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
So far this year Perez has hit .381 with 11 home runs, 52 RBIs and scored 50 runs. | | Wednesday, June 13th, 2007: Velez On Fire! 5-5 for Newark! It was a hits blitz for Eugenio Velez at Sugar Kings Ballpark. The Newark Sugar Kings second baseman tore into Scottsdale for 5 hits in 5 at-bats and wrote his name into the record book. But it wasn't enough to win the game. The Scottsdale Vampires swept past the Sugar Kings 7-4 to ruin the day for him.
The Newark manager bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today. Bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game. The Vampires got too many good looks today, and we paid for it."
E. Velez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 9th.
This season Velez is hitting .388 with 2 home runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 67-53, .558 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 11.0 GB | | Record at home | 37-23, .617 PCT | | Record on the road | 30-30, .500 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 8-4, .667 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 25-19, .568 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 19-16, .543 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 48-37, .565 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in April | 15-9, .625 PCT | | Record in May | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in June | 15-11, .577 PCT | | Record in July | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in August | 8-5, .615 PCT |
