| Breaking News | | Tuesday, September 4th, 2007: Outstanding Pitcher Award Goes to Aurora Reliever
When Aurora relief specialist Mike Bynum came into the game this season, it was as good as over. For his great year he was given the 2007 Sub League 1 Outstanding Pitcher Award.
The Lunatics bullpen star converted 30 saves this year with a 2-3 won-lost record and 1.88 ERA. Overall he appeared in 45 games and struck out 7 in 43 innings.
All of the league award winners will be recognized this weekend at the SBWA annual dinner. |
| Tuesday, July 24th, 2007: Watkins Slaps 5 Hits
It doesn't happen very often, but it happened for Tommy Watkins -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage at Lunatics Ballpark and paced the Lunatics to a 25-4 win over the Akron Sturgeons.
After his dynamite batting performance the Aurora third baseman told the press, "I just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid some great dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book.
T. Watkins walked in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a GRAND SLAM off J. Unknown in the 8th.
This season Watkins has hit at a .294 clip with 42 RBIs, 6 home runs and 67 runs scored. |
| Sunday, July 1st, 2007: Reliever Claims SL1 Pitching Award
The spotlight today is on Mike Bynum of the Aurora Lunatics. The bullpen ace was acclaimed the best pitcher in the Sub League 1 for June.
He compiled a 0-0 mark and an ERA of 1.00 in 9 innings with 1 strikeout and 7 saves in 7 save opportunities.
This year Bynum has 18 saves. In 28 relief appearances he has tossed 28.1 innings, fanned 5 and given up 9 walks with a 2-1 record. The Aurora reliever has recorded a 1.27 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .206 when he is on the mound. |
