| Breaking News |  | Friday, December 14th, 2007: Yankees Swap Perez to Tigers for Balfour A trade between the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers was made official this morning. The New York Yankees have sent 34-year old third baseman Neifi Perez to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for 29-year old reliever Grant Balfour.
Perez has a career .271 batting average with a .303 OBP. He has hit 20 homers, driven in 189 runs and scored 194 runs since he came into the league.
Since breaking into the league, Balfour has compiled a 12-18 mark, pitched in 200 games, been credited with 12 saves and amassed a 5.07 ERA. He has 241 strikeouts in 239.2 innings pitched. |  | Saturday, October 20th, 2007: Lieberthal Wants to Leave Tigers It appears to be only a rumor, but earlier today, fans around Detroit were buzzing with the news that their 35-year old catcher Mike Lieberthal had been asking for a trade. "I couldn't imagine him saying bad things about Detroit or wanting to leave." said one person. |  | Thursday, September 27th, 2007: Zach Miner Hurt, Out of Action After the end of today's game between Detroit and New York, Zach Miner skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing a pitch, the Tigers had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The starting pitcher will miss at least 1-2 weeks with back spasms.
