| Breaking News |  | Sunday, September 2nd, 2007: King of the Hill Announced by Sub League 2 In 2007, the best pitcher in the Sub League 2 was a Steelhawks reliever, thanks to some impressive stats Erick Threets put up coming out of the bullpen.
The Stockton relief specialist made 43 relief appearances, picking up 26 saves and 6 strikeouts in 44.1 innings and posted a 2.64 ERA. He also finished the year with 4 wins and 3 losses -- and the SL2 Outstanding Pitcher Award.
All of the league award winners will be recognized this weekend at the SBWA annual dinner. |  | Monday, July 30th, 2007: Week's Top Performer Honored by SL2 A veteran of baseball wars, Jeff Barry knows how to stay with a stroke that's working for him. The 37-year-old left fielder for the Steelhawks batted .400 last week on his way to the Sub League 2 Player of the Week award.
His noteworthy week also featured 10 hits in 25 at-bats, 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
This season Barry is hitting .342 with 7 home runs. |  | Saturday, July 28th, 2007: Stockton Humbles Corpus Christi A masterful pitching performance carried the Stockton Steelhawks to a 12-0 victory over Corpus Christi. Nate Cornejo held them scoreless in a complete game effort. He permitted 2 hits, had 2 strikeouts and allowed no walks.
The skipper of the Tourists said, "Cornejo was sharp. We never did figure him out."
To date in 2007, Cornejo has registered 7 starts, 3-1 won-lost mark, 1.65 ERA, 49 IP, 12 strikeouts and 7 walks.
