| Breaking News |  | Monday, August 13th, 2007: Week's #1 Player - Newark's Ugueto Pitchers who faced the Newark Claws last week were happy to see Luis Ugueto in the rear view mirror. The 28-year-old third baseman was dubbed the Sub League 1 Player of the Week for a 5-game tear that saw him hit at a .571 clip.
For the week He also chalked up 12 hits in 21 at-bats, 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
Hitting .302 to date, Ugueto has 10 home runs and 75 RBIs. He has played in 111 games. |  | Saturday, August 4th, 2007: Newark's Buchholz Shuts Out Gnats The Sigourney Gnats were almost helpless today in their 4-0 loss to Newark hurler Clay Buchholz. He kept them confused the entire ballgame and spun a 5-hit shutout.
The Sigourney manager said in the postgame interview, "Tip your hat to Buchholz. He kept us off balance all night."
Buchholz said, "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play. It was just one of those games that things went my way."
He had 2 walks and no strikeouts in a strong performance.
Over the season Buchholz has thrown 118.2 innings and dished out 16 strikeouts with a 7-10 mark and a 3.87 ERA. |  | Sunday, July 1st, 2007: SL1 Honors Sears, Best Hitter in June The Sub League 1 has made it official -- Todd Sears is the winner of the Batter of the Month trophy.
In June, the Newark first baseman starred with a .365 batting average, 8 home runs and 29 RBIs. Sears also had 15 walks, posted a .450 on-base percentage and scored 23 times.
