| Breaking News |  | Thursday, August 30th, 2007: Paradise Black Widows Are Champs They did it! The Paradise Black Widows are the best team in the MLB Triple A! They did it by knocking off the Laredo Sea Lions 9-1 today at Black Widows Ballpark to win the Championship Series 3-1.
It was the Black Widows 5th league championship.
"This team's got a lot of heart," the champs manager said. "We worked really hard. We just beat a very, very good team, an excellent team. We had to do the little things."
Paradise rapped up the regular season with a 79-51 record and finished first in the Sub League 1. |  | Wednesday, August 1st, 2007: Ramirez Collects SL2 Pitching Award Edwar Ramirez was the best pitcher in July according to the voters. He severely shut down opposition batters to win the Sub League 2 Pitcher of the Month Award.
Laredo's star reliever compiled a 1-1 mark and an ERA of 1.56 in 17.1 innings with 20 strikeouts and 12 saves in 12 save opportunities.
Looking at his pitching stats so far this season, Ramirez has 49 relief appearances, pitched 52 innings and fashioned a 4-4 record with a 2.42 ERA. He has recorded 20 saves, struck out 56 and allowed opposing clubs to hit .197 when he is on the hill. |  | Monday, July 9th, 2007: Duncan Selected Top Performer in SL2 Shelley Duncan of the Laredo Sea Lions put the wraps on a fantastic week of play by being named the Sub League 2 Player of the Week.
The hot-hitting first baseman was a bonafide batting machine as he racked up 9 hits in 24 at-bats, 3 home runs, .375 BA, 6 RBIs, 6 runs, 1 walk and a .400 OBP.
This season Duncan has banged out 37 hits in 118 at-bats for a .314 average with 8 home runs.
