| Breaking News | | Monday, August 13th, 2007: SL2's Best Player, Young of Chula Vista
Sub League 2 pitchers tried and tried all week long to stop Dmitri Young, but to no avail.
His eyes would light up when he came to the plate and he hit everything in sight, batting .515 for the week to win the SL2 Player of the Week Award. The Chula Vista first baseman cracked 17 hits in 33 at-bats, 2 home runs, drove in 9 runs and scored 13 times.
This year Young has batted at a .339 pace with 145 hits, 13 home runs, 60 RBIs and scored 84 times. |
 | Monday, July 30th, 2007: Unknown Suffers Major Injury, Career Over
From the moment it happened, it was clear that Joe Unknown's injury was serious. The Blades shortstop suffered a ruptured disc while throwing the ball. For safety's sake, Unknown was carted off the field in a stretcher. The initial diagnosis was bad and the follow-up assessment at the hospital was even more grim: Unknown's career is over.

Todd Linden of the Chula Vista Blades had an award-winning week and today was voted the Player of the Week by the Sub League 2.
For the week the 27-year-old left fielderbatted .464 (13-28) with 1 home run and 6 RBIs.
This season Linden is batting .296 with 5 home runs. He has scored 60 runs and driven in 40. |
