| Breaking News |  | Thursday, August 30th, 2007: Paradise Black Widows Are Champs They did it! The Paradise Black Widows are the best team in the MLB Triple A! They did it by knocking off the Laredo Sea Lions 9-1 today at Black Widows Ballpark to win the Championship Series 3-1.
It was the Black Widows 5th league championship.
"This team's got a lot of heart," the champs manager said. "We worked really hard. We just beat a very, very good team, an excellent team. We had to do the little things."
Paradise rapped up the regular season with a 79-51 record and finished first in the Sub League 1. |  | Friday, July 6th, 2007: Off-Field Injury Strikes Ryan Drese Black Widows reliever Ryan Drese will be sidelined for one week with a strained rib cage muscle. It occurred while helping an old lady cross the street.
"Obviously we are disappointed," said the Paradise manager, "Let's just hope he gets back soon."
|  | Tuesday, June 26th, 2007: Pearce Slams 3 Deep for Paradise! Steven Pearce believes in the Big Bang Theory.
He proved it today by going deep three times against the Plano Ladybugs.
The heavy-hitting Paradise right fielder added a lot of firepower and excitement to today's 8-0 win over the Ladybugs.
Fans and foes alike are still buzzing about his standout performance at Black Widows Ballpark.
He told reporters, "I've been working on my swing...trying to keep it short, compact and simple. It worked today."
For the game he had 4 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 4 and scored 4 runs.
S. Pearce hit a solo-shot off B. Bonser in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off B. Bonser in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off B. Bonser in the 5th and singled in the 8th.
For the year Pearce is batting .375 with 21 hits and 4 home runs.
