The Boston Red Sox presented a battle-hardened Jorge Posada to the local press corps today as their latest signing. The 36-year-old catcher sealed a 2-year deal worth $46,817,200 mere hours before the formal introduction.

 | Tuesday, December 11th, 2007: Boston Trades Murphy to Arizona for Knott
A trade between the Boston Red Sox and the Arizona Diamondbacks was made official this morning. The Boston Red Sox have sent 26-year old left fielder David Murphy to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for 33-year old reliever Eric Knott.
Lifetime Murphy is hitting .272 with 33 doubles, 2 triples, 9 home runs, 58 RBIs and 62 runs scored. He has appeared in 129 games to date and delivered 112 hits.
Knott has accumulated a 11-11 lifetime record. He has 282 strikeouts in 337.2 innings and has made 310 appearances, recording 8 career saves and putting up a 4.42 ERA. |
| Tuesday, December 11th, 2007: Alfonzo and Okajima Swapped
The San Francisco Giants have parted ways with 28-year old catcher Eliezer Alfonzo, sending him to the Boston Red Sox for 31-year old reliever Hideki Okajima. The Giants general manager confirmed the deal in an announcement this morning.
Alfonzo boasts a lifetime batting average of .237 with 45 hits, 4 homers, 18 runs scored and 22 RBIs.
Okajima has posted a career 6-and-5 record with 6 saves and a 5.40 ERA. |
