| Breaking News | | Thursday, August 30th, 2007: Raleigh's MacRae Demanding Trade? It is unknown at this time if there is any truth to the rumor that Raleigh's Scott MacRae has asked his team for a trade. Insiders indicate the reliever may not be happy with the club management. So far, the team's owners have refused to comment. | | Monday, August 20th, 2007: Hot Bat of Tyner Burns Canyons The Boomers whipped the Canyons 11-10 at Boomers Ballpark and Jason Tyner had a big hand in the win. The Boomers left fielder came to the plate 7 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Tyner and a tough day for Raleigh.
"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."
Plan or not, Tyner delivered today -- 5-7 is outstanding in any league.
J. Tyner singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, doubled in the 10th and doubled in the 12th.
Thus far this season in 46 games Tyner is batting .385 with no home runs, 13 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has 72 hits in 187 at-bats. | | Sunday, August 19th, 2007: Orr Smacks 5 Hits for Canyons 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Pete Orr of the Raleigh Canyons.
He tore up the Jersey City Boomers to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the Raleigh 6-5 win today at Ballpark of Raleigh.
"Orr was a tough out today," the Jersey City manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
P. Orr singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 10th.
In the 2007 campaign Orr has hit at a .274 clip with 65 RBIs, 11 home runs and 52 runs scored. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 66-64, .508 PCT | | Position in Division | 9th, 13.0 GB | | Record at home | 40-25, .615 PCT | | Record on the road | 26-39, .400 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 10-8, .556 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 20-26, .435 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 11-14, .440 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 55-50, .524 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 16-9, .640 PCT | | Record in May | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in June | 13-13, .500 PCT | | Record in July | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in August | 10-12, .455 PCT |
