During a player's career, there are days that stand out, and this day was definitely special! Pete LaForest went 5 for 6 against the Wichita Prowlers at Ballpark of Coralville and the Jesters picked up a 20-3 victory.
He exclaimed, "What a day! We win and I get 5 hits! Couldn't be better!" The delighted catcher was really enjoying the happiness of the moment in the press room.
"He was patient up there today," the Coralville skipper told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly agressive. LaForest has a tendency to go after some bad balls sometimes."
P. LaForest singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
This year LaForest is hitting .358, produced 18 RBIs and 0 home runs, scored 22 times and gotten on base at a .429 rate. |
 | Tuesday, July 10th, 2007: Valderrama 5-6 Against Bridgeport
Coralville left fielder Carlos Valderrama banged out 5 hits today, but it was not enough to keep his club from succumbing to the Challenge 13-6. He went 5-for-6 and raised his batting average to .833 for the season.
Despite the loss, Valderrama was not dismayed: "If the hits keep coming," he said, "so will the runs -- and more importantly -- so will the wins."
In the 2007 campaign Valderrama has hit at a .353 clip with 6 RBIs, no home runs and 21 runs scored. |
