| Breaking News |  | Monday, August 20th, 2007: Selmer Jackhammers Capture Championship Series You could hear the cheering all over Selmer as the Jackhammers secured the final out of a 12-3 win over the Tamaqua Pickets to capture the 2007 MLB Double A Championship Series 3-1. It was the 1st time in the team's history to win it.
"The Pickets are a good ballclub," said the winning skipper, "We had to play at our best to beat them."
"Anytime you make big plays, it changes the momentum of the game," the losing manager said. "The Jackhammers made 'em and we didn't -- end of story."
During the season the new champs compiled a 73-47 record in the Sub League 1 and finished in first place in the standings. |  | Wednesday, July 4th, 2007: Jackhammers Whitewash Viceroys, Cormier Winner Lance Cormier allowed 1 hit while giving up 3 walks and collecting 7 strikeouts as Selmer blanked Chandler 8-0.
In the postgame interview Cormier said, "I'm trying to keep the ball down and let guys put it in play. It worked for me today."
On his stats sheet this season Cormier shows a 7-3 record, 18 starts, 101 innings, 89 strikeouts and a 2.67 ERA. |  | Thursday, June 28th, 2007: Wilson Torches Navahos for 5 Hits 5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day. Selmer's Josh Wilson had a very special day against the Navahos when everything came together for him and he did just that -- collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and led the Selmer Jackhammers to a 11-1 win at Jackhammers Ballpark.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Wilson said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."
J. Wilson hit an RBI triple in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. Anderson in the 9th.
This season Wilson has delivered 61 hits in 180 at-bats for a .339 average with 4 home runs. He is getting on base at a .413 clip and his totals also include 24 RBIs and 33 runs scored.
