The Arizona Diamondbacks have parted ways with 29-year old left fielder Ryan Ludwick, sending him to the Pittsburgh Pirates for 27-year old reliever Kurt Birkins and 24-year old minor league shortstop Alberto Gonzalez. The Diamondbacks general manager confirmed the deal in an announcement this morning.
In his career Ludwick has played in 351 games, totaled 276 hits, 57 doubles, 6 triples and 47 homers. He has hit .245 with 158 RBIs and scored 133 times.
For his career Birkins has 7 wins and 6 losses with 2 saves. His ERA stands at 4.56 and he has fired third strikes past 114 batters in 136.1 innings while giving up 60 walks. |

The Diamondbacks pulled out all the stops today to announce the signing of second baseman Orlando Hudson. The 30-year-old is one of the game's preeminent playmakers, and has definitely proven why he was such an attractive signing.
The contract is a 3-year deal worth $23,450,200.
His lifetime stats show Hudson has batted .293 and collected 836 hits, 66 home runs and 393 RBIs. |

Word of a huge deal between Tim Hudson and Arizona broke on SION minutes before a deal was officially announced.
The premiere starting pitcher will play for an estimated $13,478,000 per year. He is definitely capable of putting together big money campaigns, which is exactly what the Arizona owners needed to enhance their portfolio.
Since his debut in the league, Hudson has posted 105 victories and 81 defeats with an ERA of 4.18. |
