Tuesday, December 11th, 2007: Seattle-Baltimore Deal: Bloomquist for Smith
Officials for the Seattle Mariners confirmed that they have traded 30-year old second baseman Willie Bloomquist and 23-year old minor league reliever Cesar Jimenez to the Baltimore Orioles. In return, the Mariners will receive 28-year old starting pitcher Bud Smith.

In his career Bloomquist has gotten 156 hits with a .309 batting average, scored 76 runs, hit 1 home run and driven in 56.

During his career Smith's won-lost record is 83 wins and 60 losses with a 3.94 ERA. He has limited other teams to a .266 average.
Saturday, December 1st, 2007: LF Garret Anderson Settles on Seattle
Seattle's signing of Garret Anderson was met with mixed reactions today as the 35-year-old left fielder was introduced to the media. Some experts consider him overpaid at $3,445,800 a year for 2 years, while others insist that Anderson is a perfect fit for the Mariners.

Anderson has a lifetime average of .308, played in 1287 games and collected 189 home runs and 734 RBIs.
Tuesday, November 13th, 2007: Mariners Downplay Talks with C Phillips
Fans across Seattle were hopeful as word of the Mariners making a play for one of baseball's biggest names took root, causing management to issue a statement that no such deal had been reached, nor was one in the works.

That said, our sources tell us that a $1,523,200-per-year arrangement is "very likely" and that Bobby Phillips could be wearing a Mariners uniform by week's end.
