In the twilight of his career, 35-year-old Mike Coolbaugh of Woodland recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the Sub League 1 Player of the Week Award.
"I've been playing since I was a kid," Coolbaugh told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success."
Coolbaugh outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 9 hits in 26 at-bats, 1 home run and 6 RBIs to stake his claim to the award.
Coolbaugh is batting .317 with 2 home runs and 35 RBIs this season. |
| Monday, July 30th, 2007: Coolbaugh Wins SL1 Best Player Award
Woodland fans had a lot to cheer about this week as shortstop Mike Coolbaugh brought home the Sub League 1 Player of the Week trophy.
During his week-long batting binge he reeled off a .458 batting average, 11 hits and no home runs. Coolbaugh also racked up 6 RBIs and scored 5 runs.
In this current campaign Coolbaugh is hitting at a .319 clip with no home runs and 21 RBIs. |
