| Breaking News | | Wednesday, April 11th, 2007: Stewart Batters Moline Acres Big Time! 5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book. Win or lose you get listed.
Chris Stewart got his name in the record book, but the Moline Acres Blazers picked up the win, topping the Sigourney Gnats 12-11.
"Sure, I would have much preferred to win the game, but that's not how it came out. In baseball you win some, lose some and some get rained out," the Sigourney catcher expressed his feelings during the postgame press conference.
He certainly did his part today, pounding out hit after hit.
Later in the clubhouse Stewart spoke further about his big game, "To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime day. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day Stewart delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats, a day that will be good scrapbook material.
C. Stewart flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off M. Asencio in the 9th.
To date Stewart has chalked up a .478 average with 1 home run, driven in 8 runs and scored 7 times. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 63-57, .525 PCT | | Position in Division | 6th, 10.0 GB | | Record at home | 30-30, .500 PCT | | Record on the road | 33-27, .550 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 3-5, .375 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 20-11, .645 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 11-7, .611 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 52-50, .510 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in April | 11-13, .458 PCT | | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in June | 14-12, .538 PCT | | Record in July | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in August | 8-5, .615 PCT |
