Monday, October 29th, 2007: Rangers-Padres Swap: Burrell for Davis
A trade between the Texas Rangers and the San Diego Padres was made official this morning. The Texas Rangers have sent 31-year old left fielder Pat Burrell to the San Diego Padres in exchange for 27-year old center fielder Rajai Davis.

In his career Burrell is batting .251 with 801 hits, 155 doubles, 8 triples and 140 home runs.

Davis has a lifetime .284 batting average and .362 on-base percentage in his 152-game career with 163 hits and 10 home runs.
Monday, October 8th, 2007: Peavy Extends Stay in San Diego
SION reports that the San Diego Padres have just agreed with starting pitcher Jake Peavy on a contract extension.

The total value is $87,603,600 for 6 years, which equals $14,600,600 per season.

In 31 starts this year Peavy has posted 14 wins while suffering 9 losses. He has pitched 201.2 innings, allowed 156 hits, struck out 229 and has a 2.54 ERA.
Monday, October 1st, 2007: San Diego Starter Named NL's Premier Pitcher
As Jake Peavy hoisted up the National League Pitcher of the Month trophy for September, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave San Diego once his contract is up at the end of the season.

Peavy put pressure on the Padres to keep him around by posting a 5-1 record and an ERA of 2.27 over 39.2 innings last month. He also rolled up 50 strikeouts, increasing his value both to San Diego and to every other team in the league.

In 30 starts this season, Peavy has picked up 14 wins while suffering 8 losses. He has pitched 195.2 innings, allowed 151 hits, struck out 221 and posted a 2.48 ERA.
