Saturday, December 15th, 2007: Mets and Reyes Extend Contract
The latest out of New York indicates that Jose Reyes has re-signed with the Mets and that the 24-year-old shortstop is set to earn $23,198,000 over a 2-year span.

Team officials tell SION the deal will be officially announced at a press conference tomorrow.

Lifetime Reyes has hit for a .306 average and totaled 901 hits, 55 home runs and 341 RBIs.
Sunday, November 11th, 2007: Ortiz Selected NL's Best Hitter
David Ortiz of New York was a smashing success in 2007, winning the Outstanding Hitter Award in the National League.

He rattled fences and pitchers as he banged out a .350 average and .459 on-base percentage. Ortiz logged 199 hits in 569 at-bats, 34 doubles, 5 triples, 54 home runs, 147 RBIs, 121 walks and scored 138 times.

This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season.
Monday, October 29th, 2007: Washington-New York Trade: DeRosa for Feliciano
Officials for the Washington Nationals confirmed that they have traded 32-year old second baseman Mark DeRosa to the New York Mets. In return, the Nationals will receive 31-year old reliever Pedro Feliciano.

DeRosa is hitting the ball at a .263 clip over his career. In 612 games he has delivered 412 hits, 28 home runs with 172 RBIs and scored 184 times.

Over his career Feliciano has made his way to the mound for 300 appearances, logging 8 saves, 316 strikeouts, a record of 21-16 and an ERA of 3.83.
