The gifted first baseman for Wellsburg ripped opposing pitchers for a .353 batting average and ran away with the voting for the Outstanding Hitter Award.
He collected 73 hits, 18 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, 29 RBIs and scored 26 times.
Gimenez will get his trophy at the SBWA awards banquet this weekend. |  | Monday, September 3rd, 2007: SL1 Announces Best Batter Award Bridgeport's John Hattig put up some impressive numbers during the 2007 campaign to seal his bid for Outstanding Hitter Award. The 27-year-old third baseman hit Sub League 1 pitchers with frightening efficiency as he piled up a .371 batting average.
He also included 85 hits, 17 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs, and 34 RBIs to round out the year in fine style.
For being named the SL1's top hitter, Hattig will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend. |  | Sunday, September 2nd, 2007: Best Pitcher Honor Goes to Dale of Bridgeport A bullpen specialist has won the 2007 Sub League 1 Outstanding Pitcher Award. The top votegetter was Carl Dale of the Bridgeport Challenge, who finished the season with 8 saves in 12 save opportunities.
He had 3 wins and 1 loss with a 6.00 ERA. Dale hurled 18 innings and totaled 5 strikeouts.
