 | Monday, September 3rd, 2007: Hessman Selected 2007 SL2 Outstanding Hitter Award One of the Sub League 2's most coveted honors is the Outstanding Hitter Award. When all the votes were tabulated, the 2007 recipient was the standout first baseman of the Atlanta Braves, Mike Hessman.
He starred this season with a .359 batting average, 170 hits, 23 home runs, 78 RBIs, .426 OBP and 94 runs scored.
This weekend Hessman will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner. |  | Monday, September 3rd, 2007: Jason Jones Picked SL1's Best Hitter The Sub League 1 Outstanding Hitter Award has been picked for 2007 and the honor goes to the Texas Rangers hitting machine, Jason Jones.
This season he compiled a .312 batting average with 124 hits, 42 doubles, 1 triple and 16 home runs, along with 93 RBIs and 72 runs scored.
For being named the SL1's best batter Jones will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend. |  | Sunday, September 2nd, 2007: King of the Hill Announced by Sub League 2 In 2007, the best pitcher in the Sub League 2 was a Steelhawks reliever, thanks to some impressive stats Erick Threets put up coming out of the bullpen.
The Stockton relief specialist made 43 relief appearances, picking up 26 saves and 6 strikeouts in 44.1 innings and posted a 2.64 ERA. He also finished the year with 4 wins and 3 losses -- and the SL2 Outstanding Pitcher Award.
All of the league award winners will be recognized this weekend at the SBWA annual dinner. | |
