The first baseman for San Francisco has claimed the 2007 Outstanding Hitter Award after tearing up the league with a .339 batting average.
Young rang up 160 hits, 32 doubles, 4 triples, 14 home runs, 67 RBIs and 91 runs scored. He also posted a .421 on-base percentage in his award-winning season.
The annual SBWA awards dinner is this weekend. All of the major award winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Thursday, September 13th, 2007: Top Batter Named by Sub League 1 The premier batter in the Sub League 1 in 2007 was Seattle first baseman Bucky Jacobsen. For his outstanding play this season, he was selected the Outstanding Hitter Award.
Jacobsen ended this year with a .313 batting average, 155 hits, 31 home runs, 86 RBIs, .399 OBP and 96 runs scored.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner, and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Wednesday, September 12th, 2007: SL2 Outstanding Pitcher Award Given Ezequiel Astacio has done something few relievers ever do -- win the Sub League 2 Outstanding Pitcher Award! Today the Houston reliever got the exciting news on the heels of putting up some stout numbers this season.
He tossed 171 innings as he put up a 12-6 record and no saves. Astacio also compiled a 2.47 ERA and handed out 169 strikeouts as he held opponents to a .218 batting average and surrendered 24 walks.
The trophy will be presented to Astacio this weekend at the SBWA's annual awards dinner. | | | | |
